When I was in Chiropractic school there was a seminar that sounded fun. It was about diagnosing the causes of fatigue through blood work. It was very expensive, even for students. I asked the person running the seminar why students couldn’t attend for free.
He signed me up for the seminar on the spot and asked me for my wallet. Confused I gave it to him. He took out some money and said, “Kristin, if I gave you the seminar for free, you wouldn’t pay attention. But because you paid for it now, you made an investment. Now I know you’re going to pay attention, and learn from it.”
And he was right. Because I had made that investment, I attended the seminar, paid attention, and read the notes over and over again. I became a better doctor because of it. That’s the day I learned the power of investment.
